Critical Resource update
An update on our activities, including examples of recent client projects and commentary in international media.
Critical Resource provides strategic advice and support on sustainability and stakeholder issues to a number of leading global organisations (client identities are kept confidential). Our work focuses on, but is not limited to, the natural resources sector. Examples of recent & current client projects:
- Ongoing support for a major internal research oject on the challenge facing oil and mining companies in gaining access to resources. The recent focus of this work has been to analyse socio-political processes underlying access decisions by host countries for a sample of large oprojects. The next phase will be to extend this analysis to cases where access has been threatened as a result of socio-political developments. Client: global professional services firm
- A review of emerging best practices for responsibly managing human rights issues across client’s industry (ongoing project). A recent focus of this project has been developing a submission on this topic to a key international body. The next phase will be to develop internal note to help facilitate uptake of good practice. - Development of an early-stage “think piece” for a client on the issue of taxation regimes and economic development in the resources sector. Client: global industry organisation
