Critical Resource update, including The Economist & BBC interviews
Comment in ‘The Economist’ (on Vedanta and anti-mining protests in India) and BBC (on the ‘scramble’ for Arctic oil), plus examples of recent work.
Critical Resource director Daniel Litvin was recently interviewed in The Economist on the policies and approaches taken by major mining firms to avoid environmental and social criticisms of their projects. The peg for the article was controversy surrounding a mining project being developed by Vedanta in Orissa. Click here for the article.
- In another interview, for the BBC World Service, Daniel Litvin was asked to comment on the “scramble” for oil and natural resources in the Arctic and the risk of conflict between nations laying claim to the region. Click here for the interview.
- Among our recent client projects: an analysis of access strategies adopted by resource firms, focusing on two mineral-rich countries, one in Africa, one in Asia; ongoing support for a major initiative to understand and improve the socio-economic impacts of mining; development of a guidance manual for resource companies on how to build greivance mechanisms for local communities.
- Critical Resource has recently updated its website to provide more information both on LicenseSecure™ – our proprietary tool which evaluates the health of the socio-political license of resource projects – and also on the range of other services we provide to clients.
