Jean Bruno Ramahefarivo is a former Special Advisor to the President of Madagascar. He has 25 years of experience in sustainable development, governance, corporate social responsibility and project management from the mining sector, government and international and humanitarian organisations. As part of his career in government, Jean Bruno served as Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Economic Development Board of Madagascar, as Secretary General of the Ministry of Transportation and the Ministry of Trade and Consumption, and as Special Advisor to the President on defence and national security.
In the private sector, Jean Bruno has worked for Rio Tinto in Guinea, where he managed community relations at the Simandou iron ore project, improving its social performance so that initial community opposition was overcome and the project complied with IFC standards. He also spent five years as Regional Development Coordinator for QIT Madagascar Minerals, working on the environmental and social impact assessment process and developing and managing stakeholder engagement strategies.
