Marco Bartholdy is an Associate at Critical Resource specialising in social and political risk mitigation in the mining sector. In recent years, Marco has focused primarily on political dynamics in West Africa and their interplay with mining and infrastructure development. He has also worked more broadly on projects across Africa, Latin America and Europe and has worked directly with C-Suite executives to analyse and overcome a range or socio-political challenges facing their assets. Marco is also a member of Critical Resource’s business development team.
Before joining the company, Marco worked at the Inter-American Development Bank and CARE International, specialising in responsible investment in developing countries. He has also worked in research roles at a number of policy-focused organisations including the Centre of Armed Violence Reduction, DEMOS and Citizens UK.
Marco holds an MSc in Development Management from the London School of Economics, a BA in Human Geography from Queen Mary University of London and a certificate in International Finance from City University. He is a Level II candidate in the CFA programme.
